Unfortunately, the worst-case scenario came true, and Lech’s midfielder Gisli Thordarson will have to undergo shoulder surgery. Depending on the progress of the recovery, the Icelandic player will have to pause for four to six months.
Coach Niels Frederiksen informed about Gisli’s injury during the press conference before the Saturday clash with Stal Mielec (3:1). The midfielder suffered an injury during one of the training sessions last week. The Icelandic player underwent thorough tests, and his medical staff considered various options—from preventive treatment to surgery. In the end, they opted for the more invasive route, and on Friday, Thordarson will be operated on. His recovery should take about four to six months.
Mario González is also currently not training with the team – he’s suffered an adductor muscle injury and is training individually. The Spaniard will be back after the March international break.
