Lech lost the opening league game of the 2020/21 season. Zagłębie beat the club from Poznań 2:1 in a clash in Lubin.
Until the 82nd minute, Lech was in control of the match. Mikael Ishak for whom it was the first league game for Lech Poznań, scored a goal shortly before the halftime. The Swedish striker received the ball from Tiba, fought to get some space, and placed the ball in the back of the net with a flat, strong shot. Zagłębie’s keeper tried intervening but the attempt was beyond his reach.
In the second half, Lech had a couple more goal-scoring opportunities but the team from Poznań lacked precision in the last phase of their attempts. Kamiński and Marchwiński, who came off the bench, both wasted good chances to change the score to 2:0.
The wasted opportunities took revenge on Lech and Zagłębie turned the tables on their opponent in the closing minutes of the match. The team from Poznań conceded two goals from corner kicks within just a few minutes. Precise headers from Guldan and Balić helped the hosts beat last season’s silver medalists and collect three league points.
