"We need to be determined and aggressive"

“We need to be determined and aggressive on the pitch in order to fulfil our tactical plan. We have to perform the way we did in the second half against Piast Gliwice. Hopefully, it will be the key to winning the match,” said Kamil Jozwiak, Lech’s midfielder.

Lech’s homegrown player is one of the most experienced footballers in the current first-team squad. In addition, Darko Jevtic is the only member of Zuraw’s team who debuted for the Polish club earlier than the young midfielder. Jozwiak made his debut for Lech back in 2016, on February 28th, in a home clash with Jagiellonia Bialystok (0:2). Despite quickly taking over a key role in the squad, Jozwiak emphasizes that little has changed since he first joined the senior squad. “The only thing that’s different is the number on the back of my shirt. I have been a regular starter for a while now; everyone who is a part of the starting line-up needs to take the responsibility of pushing and pulling the whole team in order to prove that he deserves this spot more than his teammates,” explained Lech’s Academy product.

“I am one of the most experienced players in terms of the time spent here at Lech. I try to help the younger players who are just about to join the senior squad. It doesn’t feel like pressure at all; I am happy to do my job on and off the pitch whilst enjoying the way my team performs,” added the midfielder.

Last time Lech won an away league match was on December 21st 2018 – a clash with Wisla Cracow that ended with a 1:0 win for the guests thanks to Tiba’s goal. However, Lech’s players aren’t really bothered with this unfortunate run. “I believe focusing on such statistics is no good for anyone. The first league game of the season was an away clash and although we didn’t perform well in the first half, in the second part of the game we rose back up which is a great thing. In fact, we could have won the game because we had plenty of goal-scoring chances. We know what’s the key to repeating that second half. We need to be determined and aggressive on the pitch in order to fulfil our tactical plan. We have to perform the way we did in the second half against Piast Gliwice. Hopefully, it will be the key to winning the match. There is no point in looking behind; we simply have to focus on what’s ahead,” highlighted Jozwiak.

On Saturday, the team from Poznan is going to travel to Lodz where they are going to face LKS. Lech’s rival is an Ekstraklasa newcomer that has recently been promoted to the top division. In their first league match, they drew 0:0 with Lechia Gdansk, and in the second round, they beat Cracovia in an away game. “Most of the newcomers have a great start of the season. Of course, I don’t want to suggest that LKS Lodz is going to start performing poorly. Currently, they are playing at a high level. I saw their last match and I was impressed. Nonetheless, what really counts is how we play and I believe that if everything goes according to plan, we will win the game,” emphasized the youngster.

Despite the fact that LKS Lodz has only recently returned to the top division after long years of absence, the two teams faced each other fairly recently. Last season, Lech Poznan played against the team from Lodz in a Polish Cup game which the side from Poznan won after 120 minutes and a great goal from Tiba in the extra time. “It wasn’t an easy match even though we had plenty of goal-scoring chances. I think accuracy was our biggest weakness in that game. We no longer look back at that match especially since LKS made big progress since then and it’s different competition. A lot has changed ever since, hence that game cannot be used as a determinant ahead of the Saturday league clash,” summarized Jozwiak.
