Joao Amaral has yet again managed to place the ball in the back of a net. The Saturday goal was Amaral’s 11th since he joined Lech Poznan. Interestingly, he’s been successfully scoring whilst playing on three different positions.
It didn’t take the 27-year-old long to score his first goal for the team from Poznan; only a few days after his transfer had been completed, the Portuguese came off the bench in a Europa League qualifier and got an equalizer for his new team. Most importantly, the goal secured Lech’s overall win in the two-leg clash.
Europa League and Ekstraklasa are not the only competition in which Amaral scores regularly. Last season, in the first round of the Polish Cup, Amaral also secured Lech’s promotion to the next phase of the tournament. It took him a while to score again; his last goal dates back to April when he beat Jagiellonia’s keeper in the last play-off match. Nonetheless, it’s important to mention, that Amaral suffered an injury which forced him to miss a number of games at the end of the last season.
Throughout the past year at Lech, Amaral scored 11 goals. What’s interesting, he’s been consistently beating various keepers whilst playing on three different positions. The Portuguese player is versatile enough to be able to compete as a forward, no. 10, or on the wing. His adaptability is greatly valued in the football world.
Amaral’s statistics put him on the 10th position in Lech’s rank of foreign players with most goals. The 27-year-old is just one goal behind Manuel Arboleda who’s ranked 9th.
