Lech Poznań bounced back from two losses in a row in the best possible way – with a win. Niels Frederiksen’s squad defeated Zagłębie Lubin 3:1 thanks to a brace from Patrik Wålemark and a goal from Rasmus Carstensen. The three points helped Lech hold onto the leader’s seat but now they have a challenging match ahead of them – an away clash with Pogoń Szczecin.
Lech’s players are back on track with a second win of the spring round. Niels Frederiksen triumphed in the home clash with Zagłębie Lubin and they’ve returned to the top of the table. On Saturday, Lech will face Pogoń Szczecin – who has yet to lose a league game in 2025 – in an away match.
“The win against Zagłębie was very valuable. After the two losses in a row, we needed this win. Now Pogoń, who is a very good team, awaits us. We know who we’re going to play against, but it’s not something we are overly worried about. We are going to Szczecin to win three points,” emphasized Michał Gurgul, Lech’s defender.
Pogoń vs Lech will be an indisputable hit of the 23rd round. The team led by coach Robert Kolendowicz is the best PKO BP Ekstraklasa squad of this spring round and the only side to win the maximum number of points since the start of 2025. The great disposition helped Pogoń advance to the fourth place in the league table and now they’re just 5 points away behind Lech Poznań. For Niels Frederiksen’s team, the Saturday match will be an opportunity to end a series of poor away performances which has been dragging on since October 2024 and has resulted in four games without a win.
“I try not to look at and analyse the situation in the league table. Before the match, I am always focused on the game, my attitude, and what I can do for the team. Hence, I rarely look at the table,” explained Rasmus Carstensen who scored his first goal for Lech in the clash with Zagłębie.
