In the match against Piast Gliwice, Tomasz Dejewski has once again appeared on the pitch in place of one of his injured teammates. So far, the defender played in 4 games and in 3 of them, his substitution was forced by unfavourable circumstances.
The homegrown defender has played 244 minutes for the first team so far this season. During that time, Lech conceded a single goal only – in the clash with Gornik Zabrze. “I am very happy to be of help to the team whenever they need me. Keeping a clean sheet is another reason to rejoice. It wasn’t the first time that I was sent in at a difficult moment and I always do my best to align with my teammates and perform as well as possible. Being given the chance to play for Lech, at Bulgarska street, is an extraordinary feeling that cannot be described using words, especially when the team wins and you played a role in that success,” explained Dejewski.
Dejewski was sat on the bench in the match against Piast, however, due to Gumny’s injury, he was forced to jump on the pitch in the 66th minute. It wasn’t the first time that the former Warta Poznan player is sent in when one of Lech’s footballers gets injured. “The coach told me to start warming up which didn’t take too long because within 2 minutes I was on the pitch. It’s always a bit difficult but I am glad that we managed to keep a clean sheet and performed well as a defensive line,” emphasised Lech’s homegrown player.
Dejewski’s appearance on the pitch usually means significant changes in the defensive line and this time it was no different. In the clash with Lechia Gdansk, Crnomarković was moved to the left side, whereas Dejewski was positioned in the centre, next to Rogne. In the most recent league game, Dejewski was also placed next to his Norwegian teammate whilst Satka was asked to move to the left flank where he usually plays when competing for his national team. “He is a class player. In my opinion, the coach doesn’t need to worry at all about Satka because he can play on every position. Not sure how he’d do if he was placed on the wing or no. 9, but when it comes to the defensive line, wherever it is that he's positioned, I always feel comfortable and secure,” added Dejewski with a smile on his face.
