Lech's goalkeeper Karol Szymański will no longer compete for the club from Poznań. The keeper’s contract, which expired at the end of the current campaign, wasn’t extended.
This season, Szymański appeared in two top-tier matches and got 35 caps for the B team. “We would like to thank Karol for the few years he spent at Lech; he has helped immensely all the youth players who made their first steps in the reserves and the first team. We wish him all the best in his career and we are hoping that one day our paths will cross once again,” spoke Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
In summer 2018, the 26-year-old returned to Lech after a 3-year break. His football career began at Gwardia Koszalin and from there the keeper moved to Bałtyk Koszalin and later to Lech’s Academy. In the season 2010/11, he competed with the team from Poznań in Young Ekstraklasa. Following that campaign, he spent time on loan in clubs such as Jarota Jarocin, Chojniczanka Chojnice, and Ostrovia Ostrów Wielkopolska. In 2015 Szymański left Lech Poznań and joined Chrobry Głogów. Before he returned to Poznań, the goalkeeper also represented Kotwica Kołobrzeg, and Polonia Środa Wielkpolska.
