During those difficult times, Lech Poznań speaks with one voice. All 250 employees – including the management board, first-team players, and coaching staff – have agreed to a temporary pay cut. “All staff members, including footballers and coaches, understand very well the situation we are in,” said Lech’s Chairman, Karol Klimczak.
“I am immensely grateful and would like to thank all employees who expressed their understanding for the temporary pay cut. The situation is extraordinary. Lech employs 250 people and resembles any other business which means that the pandemic has significantly impacted our operations. However, knowing that Lech is one big family, I am sure that together we will get through those difficult times,” emphasised Klimczak.
The decision to temporarily reduce pay was accepted by all first-team players. Whenever Ekstraklasa decided to suspend the competition, players expressed their understanding of the situation and willingness to adapt accordingly. The club decision-makers organised a meeting with the team management board which is being led by Thomas Rogne. Next, they spoke to players individually and outlined suggested contract annexes which are being signed now.
“As soon as coronavirus appeared, we – as a team – realised how hard of a situation it would be for Lech Poznań and other businesses across the world. As the players of this amazing club, we wanted to do everything we could to support it in those difficult times. We wanted to show our solidarity; we know that together we can get through it,” said Thomas Rogne, Lech’s captain.
The club also reached an agreement with the coaching and medical staff working with the first team. “I had no doubts that it’s time to help Lech out. No one is to blame for the current situation and our inability to compete in the league. What really matters is that people stay safe,” emphasised Dariusz Żuraw, the first-team coach.
Similar percentile pay cut applies to all 250 employees of Lech Poznań, including the management board, all the way across the departments. The temporary pay is in operation since mid-March.
