Lech Poznań found the back of the net 7 times during the winter training matches. Nearly half of those goals were scored by Artur Sobiech. The Polish forward defeated the goalkeeper 3 times, and, in that aspect, he was the best player at Lech.
The forward made an appearance in the first half of Ajman Club (1:1) and played the whole 90 minutes against Hansa Rostock (4:0) and Eintracht Frankfurt (2:2). The 32-year-old Pole found the back of the net three times against the German clubs – first he beat Diant Rajman, and then scored twice against the team from 2. Bundesliga. “Throughout the whole preparation period, I was luckily injury-free. I think that it has impacted my performance. What matters the most is that I keep up the good form and prove myself in the upcoming games,” explained Artur Sobiech.
The 32-year-old collected a total of 140 minutes in the first team. Ruch Chorzów homegrown player was out frequently due to injuries, hence he only appeared in 5 matches. The good performances throughout the winter preparations could result in Sobiech getting more time in official games.
We will see [how it goes], it’s all up to the coach. Of course, there is Mikael who is our captain, and his position is indisputable. Still, it’s good for the [starting line-up] players to feel pressure because it can positively impact their performances and then the whole team plays at a higher level. Therefore, my role is to show what I am capable of and make it hard for the coach to decide who to choose,” added the forward.
Sobiech will have an opportunity to continue his scoring streak on Friday – that’s when Lech will face Stal Mielec in an away league game. The kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 pm.
