On Friday Lech’s winger, Michal Skoras, extended his contract with the club until 2023. In addition, the youngster officially joined Rakow Czestochowa on loan. “We are glad that Michal trusts us; our priority is for him to perform regularly. The fact that he’ll be able to compete at the highest level shows how successful this temporary transfer is,” explained Tomasz Rzasa, Lech’s Sporting Director.
The 19-year-old joined Lech’s Academy in winter 2015 from MOSiR Jastrzebie Zdroj. At first, he was frequently positioned in the midfield but Djurdjevic – the former youth coach – moved Skoras to the wing. After 2 years of competing for the Academy teams, the winger joined the senior squad. Throughout the season 2017/18, he appeared in 14 games and then joined first-league Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza on loan where he played in 28 matches, scored once, and got 3 assists.
This summer, coach Zuraw took Skoras along for the pre-season training camp in Opalenica. He was given minutes in every one of the friendly games this summer – against Widzew Lodz, Broendby IF, and AEK Larnaca. Now the youngster has new challenges lying ahead of him; he is going to compete regularly on the highest-division pitches. In the agreement with Rakow Czestochowa, the club from Poznan included a clause enabling Lech to shorten the loan in winter. In addition, the 19-year-old is not allowed to play against Lech.
“Skoras came back from the loan at Termalica more mature, both in terms of football, and motoric skills. We are glad that Michal trusts us; our priority is for him to perform regularly. The fact that he’ll be able to compete at the highest level shows how successful this temporary transfer is. We are awaiting his return; he’s our plan for the future, which is emphasized by the short loan,” added the Sporting Director.
The player himself hopes to be - most importantly - healthy because that’s the main factor affecting the regularity of his performances. After his span at Termalica, he cannot wait to compete in a higher division. “Most of all, I am focused on my development, hence this loan is a great move. Lech feels like home to me, the atmosphere here is great and I’d love to stay here, but I set the bar high and playing regularly is one of my main goals. I would like to stay healthy, appear on the pitch frequently, and continuously improve my statistics,” highlighted Skoras.
