Roko Baturina joins Lech

Mikael Ishak is undoubtedly Lech’s no. 1 forward and since recently, he is fighting for a spot in the starting line-up with Artur Sobiech. Until not long ago, Aron Johannsson was also a part of the rivalry, however, in the recent B-team against Wisła Puławy (4:1), the forward suffered a serious shoulder injury. Hence, Lech decided to bring in another forward to strengthen the first-team squad.

“Roko Baturina is joining us with the objective of putting pressure on Mikael Ishak and Artur Sobiech and fight with the two for a spot in the starting line-up. We are hoping that he will adapt quickly and start scoring goals for Lech,” said Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.

The 21-year-old arrived in Poznań on Thursday afternoon and on the next day, we underwent medical tests before signing a one-year contract with Lech. The agreement between the Polish club and Ferencvaros includes a buyout clause.

“I know that Lech has two great forwards. Ishak is the captain and he scores the most goals. However, I am hoping that I will manage to prove myself to the coaches and all the people connected to the club, and that I will earn my time on the pitch. I love challenges and playing for Lech will be a great opportunity to develop as a player,” emphasised Baturina.

The 21-year-old came to Hungary in the summer of 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. In his first season for Ferencvaros, he appeared in 20 league games and scored 4 goals. In addition, he also competed in three national cup matches, adding 6 goals to his account and 2 assists. The forward also made a 36-minute appearance in the Champions League group against FC Barcelona (0:3) and Dinamo Kyiv (0:1). In the previous season, the youngster was loaned to NK Bravo where he got 16 caps, 8 goals and 2 assists. On top of that, Baturina scored 5 goals for Dinamo’s reserves.

“My left foot is the better one. I believe that my strengths include the ability to position myself in the box, playing with my head and shots from within the penalty area. I am a strong footballer and I know how to use that to my advantage, for instance when playing with my back towards the goal. Also, whenever there is a need, I know how to stay in possession of the ball,” highlighted Lech’s new forward who will be wearing no. 88 on his shirt.
