Quite surprisingly it was Podbeskidzie that began the match with a clear, offensive attitude. Chmiel and Demjan had their chances to cause some troubles to Lech's defenders, but the real threat appeared after around 15 minutes of play. Szczepianiak came close to scoring, but fortunately for Lech, Buric caught the ball before the opponent took it over. Nonetheless, 3 minutes later Podbeskidzie was already winning. Wilusz attempted to send the ball out of his penalty area, but what he did was give it to Chmiel, who passed to Demjan and the latter placed the ball right under the crossbar.
Only after the lost goal did Lech start to play more bravely. However, the results of the offensive actions were miserable. Pawlowski's pass to Bille caused some problems to Podbeskidzie's defense line, but they cleared the threat effectively. Shortly afterwards the Dane was forced to leave the pitch due to injury. In the 31st minute Jevtic could have scored, but his attempt turned out not to be on target. On the other side of the field Mozdzen fired a shot too, but his was accurate and if it wasn't for Buric, it'd fall into the back of the net.
Lech had nothing to lose and so the players intensified their offensive actions at the beginning of the second half. Shortly after the play was resumed, Gajos attempted to surprise the rival's goalkeeper with a shot that eventually caused troubles, but did not fall into the back of the net. The team from Poznan dominated the match and remained in possession of the ball most of the time, but the players failed to succeed with their attacks. Podbeskidzie moved to the defense and made life for Lech much more difficult. However, the team from Poznan had goal-scoring opportunities like the one in the 60th minute when Sisi recovered the ball near the midfield, passed to Kownacki and the latter fired a shot from an acute angle. A minute later it was Lech's goalkeeper that had to remain cautious, but luckily for his team, Szczepaniak's shot flew high above the crossbar.
It didn't take long for Lech to finally succeed in its offensive attempts. Pawlowski left one defending player behind right near the end line and sent the ball to Jevtic who's shot was blocked. However, Kadar recovered the ball, gave it to Kownacki and the youngster placed the ball in an empty goal. Nonetheless, Lech's joy lasted short and a few minutes later the conceded another goal. This time it was Sokolowski who headed the ball into the back of the net.
Urban reacted immediately, sent Kaminski on the pitch and changes the team's formation. Since then on Lech played with 3 central defenders. Kedziora and Tamas were moved up front and the new formation eventually gave results in for of goal-scoring opportunities. For instance, in 77th minute Pawlowski sent a cross into the penalty area and Kaminski redirected the ball towards the goal with his head. However, Podbeskidzie's goalkeeper intervened really well.
The offensive formation brought risks and Lech paid a high price for it. Podbeskidzie exploited the chances of counterattacks and scored two goals more before the final whistle. Szczepaniak and Kowalski (after Mojta's assists) placed the ball in the net to set the result to 4:1.
