During the first match of Champions League qualifications the young forward suffered brain concussion due to a collision with a defending rival, but as it turned out, head injury wasn't the end of trouble for the Polish footballer. The accident also resulted in an ankle injury, which means that the player will be out for at least 6 weeks.

During the first match of Champions League qualifications the young forward suffered brain concussion due to a collision with a defending rival, but as it turned out, head injury wasn't the end of trouble for the Polish footballer. The accident also resulted in an ankle injury, which means that the player will be out for at least 6 weeks.
"Dawid injured the two ligaments which stabilize the ankle and a fragment of the bone at the back of the ankle was broken off, too," said dr Andrzej Pyda, Lech's medic.
The treatment which is meant to reconstruct the ligaments' structure and remove the piece of bone that's been broken off is scheduled for this week, most probably Thursday. After that Kownacki will undergo a rehabilitation that is divided into multiple stages and it won't be until 6 weeks pass that the forward is going to train with the team again.
"In the first stage the ankle will be crippled, the stitches are going to be removed and then the first simple movement exercises can be practiced. Gradually the intensity of the exercises will grow until the ankle is fully strong again and the complete range of movements is regained," said Lech's doctor.
