Radosław Murawski spent 90 minutes on the pitch in the first leg of the clash with Spartak Trnava (2:1). The midfielder is also likely to make an appearance in the game played in Slovakia, however, we won’t be seeing him on the Ekstraklasa pitches for a while – as a result of the red card received in the match against Zagłębie (1:1), Murawski will have to pause for two games.
Shortly before halftime in the Sunday clash with Zagłębie, Murawski attempted to recover the ball with a slide but ended up fouling the opponent. Referee Damian Kos initially showed the midfielder a yellow card, but following consultation with VAR, he ended up sending Murawski off. On Wednesday, Ekstraklasa SA League Commission reviewed the situation and decided that the midfielder be suspended for two matches. Since the penalty applies to league games only, Murawski will miss Lech’s matches against Śląsk Wrocław and Górnik Zabrze.
“Everybody knows that it was a deserved red card, and so do I. I regret it and am very sorry that it happened. It’s a sport and sometimes split seconds end up being decisive. My intention was to stop the counterattack and boot the ball. Thankfully, I didn’t end up hurting Zagłębie’s player. I received a two-match suspension and appealed for a lower penalty since my intention wasn’t to hit the player, but the ball. However, the appeal was denied and I have to make peace with it. I have learned my lesson,” explained Radosław Murawski.
