Five talented Academy players travelled with Lech Poznań to Belek, where the first team prepared for the second part of the season. One of them - Kornel Lisman - has officially joined the senior squad. “It’s been communicated clearly to the dressing room. Kornel hasn’t joined the first team because he is young and an Academy player, but because he deserves it,” explained coach Mariusz Rumak.
Sammy Dudek, Patryk Olejnik, Igor Draszczyk, Kamil Jakóbczyk and Kornel Lisman are the five youngsters who were given a chance to show their potential in Turkey. The first four will remain competing for the Wronki-based part of the Academy, however, Kornel Lisman has officially become a member of the senior squad. The first-team coaching staff made the decision in consultation with the Sports Department.
“Kornel took advantage of his chance,” said coach Rumak who also emphasised, that the nearly 18-year-old has adapted to the senior dressing room very quickly. “He joined the first team and based on the relationship aspect, you could see that he is open and has no jitters at all. He speaks English, which is also helpful when conversing with older, foreign teammates. He is open-minded and intelligent,” added the coach.
Lisman appeared in the first friendly, against LASK Linz (3:0), but the intense rain made it hard for the youngster to show his talent. However, his performance against NK Maribor (3:0) was phenomenal; he impressed with numerous individual attempts.
“He has incredible motoric potential. However, he still needs to develop in that aspect. He has good physical conditions but there is a lot of technical work ahead of him. Of course, he is ready to play right away, for instance, in next week’s league clash with Zagłębie Lubin. But he still needs to put in a lot of work to reach the level and write a history like our other homegrown players who compete in the TOP 5 leagues. However, he is a part of the first-team squad and it’s been communicated clearly. Kornel hasn’t joined the first team because he is young and an Academy player, but because he deserves it,” summarized Mariusz Rumak.
Lisman has been registered in the competition and will play with number 56 on his back.
