Lech to face Fiorentina in UECL quarterfinals
Lech Poznań will face the Italian ACF Fiorentina in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The first leg will be played at the Poznań Municipal Stadium on April 13th. The two teams are going to face each other in the second leg the following week, on April 20th, in Italy.
On Thursday evening, Lech Poznań advanced to the quarterfinals of a European competition for the first time in the club’s history. They defeated Swedish Djurgården 5:0 on aggregate. As a result, they made it to the last 8 of the Europa Conference League along with ACF Fiorentina, KAA Gent, RSC Anderlecht, AZ Alkmaar, FC Basel, OCG Nice, and West Ham United.
The draw revealed that Lech would face ACF Fiorentina in the quarterfinals of UECL. The two teams played against each other back in 2015, in the group stage of the Europa League. Back then, Lech triumphed 2:1 in Italy whereas Fiorentina won 2:0 in the Poznań Stadium. The first leg of this season’s clash is scheduled for April 13th (in Poland), and the second match will take place on April 20th (in Italy).
The Friday draw also revealed the potential semifinal pairs. The winner of the Lech vs Fiorentina clash will face either FC Basel, or OGC Nice, on May 11th and 18th, at home.
