Lech drew 1:1 with Zaglebie Lubin in the most recent league clash. Kamil Jozwiak scored the only goal for the team from Poznan.
In the first 15 minutes, the two sides fought for the ball in the midfield and struggled to remain in its possession for a longer period. Finally, Zaglebie managed to create the first goal-scoring chance of the match. Balic’s cross into the box was intercepted by Kostevych, however, Pawlowski was waiting inside the penalty area and successfully recovered the ball. Unluckily for the guests, his attempt was off target. Following Zaglebie’s scoring opportunity, Lech took control of the game for a shorter while whilst the guests occasionally surprised Buric with a shot on target. One of Zaglebie’s corner kicks forced the keeper and Goutas to clear the ball from the goal line twice within a very short period.
A few minutes later, Lech got a perfect chance to take the lead. Klups’ individual run resulted in a great scoring opportunity for Marchwinski, however, the talented youngster mishit the ball. Before the referee announced halftime, both sides had a couple of opportunities to change the score but neither of them was successful.
The second half began with intense attacks from Lech. One of the hosts’ offensive attempts ended with Jozwiak sending the ball right underneath the crossbar and into the back of the net following a great individual run and assist from Tiba. Zaglebie was visibly determined to catch up with their rival and their counterattacks resulted in numerous scoring chances but most of them were either easily stopped by Buric or off target.
Meanwhile, Lech also got a few opportunities to score a goal and take a step closer towards an important win. Similarly to their rival, the hosts lacked accuracy. For instance, they were awarded a free kick right outside the box, but Jevtic’s shot, although on target, was easily stopped by Zaglebie’s keeper. The guests responded with a dangerous attempt from Tuszynski which was successfully intercepted by Goutas. 15 minutes before the final whistle, Zaglebie could have equalized when Starzynski who was positioned in the box received a well-timed pass, but the offensive player failed to tap the ball into the back of the net.
Zaglebie kept on pressing and they finally got what they wanted. Pawlowski was fouled in the box and Starzynski effortlessly converted the penalty kick into an equalizer. Lech had a couple of opportunities to still win the match. Tiba, Tomasik, Gajos and Jozwiak all came close to scoring, but their attempts weren’t precise or good enough to result in a crucial goal. Just before the referee ended the match, Kolodziej came very close to scoring, but his shot was only slightly off target. Therefore, the two teams were forced to share league points.
