Lech Poznan beat Slask Wroclaw in a home league clash 2:1. Khoblenko and Gytkjaer scored the two goals for Lech in the closing minutes of the match.
Similarly to the previous league game, the two teams competed in very harsh weather conditions which indisputably influenced the play. The match was far from exhilarating, however, Lech got their first scoring chance early in the 8th minute. Koljic put pressure on Tarasov and the latter lost the ball, enabling the Bosnian player to race into the box. The striker’s shot was easily stopped by Slask’s keeper.
The hosts struggled to dominate the game, as well as to create scoring chances. Meanwhile, Slask focused their play around their forward Robak whose physique caused problems to Lech’s defensive line. Nevertheless, the team from Wroclaw didn’t get many opportunities to take the lead. In the 39th minute, the Polish striker received a pass in the box, but his shot was off target.
After halftime, Lech intensified their offensive actions and came close to scoring. Within a couple of minutes, Radut got a great chance to place the ball in the net. However, the Romanian’s volley was successfully stopped by Slask’s goalkeeper. In the 63rd minute, the same midfielder could have added an assist to his account. His cross was intercepted by Gytkjaer who missed the goal by centimeters.
The further into the match, the more possession Lech had. Nonetheless, the hosts found it problematic to beat Slask’s defensive line. Bjelica’s team simply didn’t fire enough shots. However, in the 80th minute, Lech was given a free kick which Radut converted into a great cross and Khoblenko redirected the ball into the back of the net with a header. 2 minutes later the team from Wroclaw equalized after Robak beat Buric in a one-on-one clash. Shortly afterward, Khoblenko got another chance to score, but this time his attempt was successfully stopped by Slask’s keeper. Finally, in the 89th minute, Lech took the lead once more. Jozwiak sent a pass to Vujadinovic and the latter redirected the ball to Gytkjaer who left the goalkeeper from Wroclaw helpless as the put the ball in the net.
