Lech Poznań - Pogoń Szczecin 2:2 

The matches following an international break are often unpredictable, especially in the case of clubs such as Lech where many of the first-team players join their national squads. Hence, the fans rejoiced even more when in the 26^th minute, Jesper Karlstrom opened the scoring sheet. The Swedish midfielder fired a precise, strong shot from outside the box which bounced off the post and hit the back of the net.

The end of the first halftime turned out to be decisive in the context of the whole match. First, in the 40^th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick for Kóstas Triantafyllópoulos’ handball. Unfortunately for the Poznań squad, Lech’s captain Mikael Ishak failed to convert the set piece into a goal. Shortly afterwards, Triantafyllópoulos made a tactical foul on Michał Skóraś for which he should have received a second yellow card, and as a result, been sent off. The referee did not stop the game and the Greek player was never penalized for the foul. A few minutes later, Radosław Murawski’s handball resulted in a penalty for Pogoń which Kamil Grosicki converted into an equalizer.

In the second half, Pogoń was the first one to find the back of the net. The team from the seaside took advantage of Lech’s mistake and Alexander Gorgon added his name to the goal scorers’ list. Within a minute or two, Lech scored an equalizer – this time Mikael Ishak beat Pogoń’s keeper after he intercepted Filip Marchwiński’s header.

In the end, the two sides had to share points. Lech managed to hold onto the third rank in the league table. Next weekend, John van den Brom’s squad will face Warta Poznań (Saturday, 8 pm).
