Lech Poznan - Pogon Szczecin 1:2

Lech failed to start off the league season with a win and it was Pogon Szczecin that collected all three points at INEA Stadium on Saturday evening. The team from Szczecin won with Lech 2:1. Darko Jevtic scored the only goal for Kolejorz.

The starting lineup sent by Skorza to face Pogon differed from the one that beat FK Sarajevo. Kownacki and Linetty couldn't play against the rival from Szczecin and Holman and Tetteh were the ones who replaced them. Kedziora and Hamalainen were missing, too. Both were absent from some part of training sessions during pre-season, and therefore Skorza decided to give them a rest ahead of the second leg of the Champions League qualifications.

Guests started off the match with a good offensive actions. The team from Szczecin had one opportunity in 3rd minute. Akahoski turned a corner kick into a precise cross right on Zwolinski's head, while the latter redirected the ball to the goal, but it stopped on the crossbar. 10 minutes later Lech had a chance of its own when Robak was left unmarked in Pogon's penalty area, but the forward failed to beat the goalkeeper.

In 20th minute the stadium went quiet. Darko Jevtic lost the ball when dribbling in the midfield and Malecki sent an immediate long ball to Zwolinski. The latter left the defenders behind and sent the ball past Buric and into the net. Lech wanted to catch up as quickly as possible. It took the players 6 minutes to equalize. Darko Jevtic was the one to convert Robak's cross from the right flank into a precise header. Unfortunately for the team from Poznan, in 38th minute Pogons players had another chance to rejoice. Fraczczak was the one who passed the ball into the penalty area while Lewandowski freed himself from Ceesay's watch and placed the ball in the net with a header.

Lech went to play out the second half with a more offensive attitude. Tetteh and Holman were replaced by Formella and Thomalla. The hosts were clearly focused on scoring an equalizer. Kaminski, Pawlowski, Tralka and Douglas had opportunities to decrease their losses, but the team from Szczecin defended successfully. Lech tried to break apart the wall put up by Pogon, but neither of the players from Poznan managed to do so. Skorza's team inexhaustibly pressed on Pogon's defense line, but neither their team actions, nor shots from a distance brought any results. Therefore, in the end it was the team from Szczecin that gathered all three points home and following the first round of Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznan does not yet have a points on its account. Kolejorz will get a chance to make it up to its fans on Wednesday when FK Sarajevo will visit Poznan to face Lech in the Champions League qualifications.
