Lech beat Lechia Gdanski 2:1 in the 36th league game of the season. The team from Poznan won thanks to an own goal and Jevtic’s shot in the added time.
Zuraw’s players were the first ones to attack. In the opening minutes, Jozwiak sent a precise cross into the box where Wasilewski was positioned, but the latter’s header was off target. Lechia responded with Mak’s shot from outside the box, however, this time the attempt was successfully stopped by the keeper. Shortly afterwards, the hosts had a great chance to take the lead when Tomasik’s cross into the penalty area was extended by Jozwiak, but unluckily for Lech, Gytkjaer sent the ball flying above the crossbar.
In the 23rd minute, the hosts were awarded a free kick which Jevtic converted into a cross. Tralka intercepted the pass and tried heading the ball into the back of the net, but the attempt was off target. In the next counterattack, Jozwiak came one-on-one with Lechia’s keeper, however, his shot was too weak and caused no trouble to Alomerovic. 10 minutes before halftime, Jevtic impressed the audience with an individual run which he finished off poorly. Just before the referee sent both teams off the pitch, Lipski fired a shot at Lech’s goal from outside the penalty area and Buric intervened without an error.
In the second half of the match, Lech also had numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Skrzypczak came close to scoring early in the second part of the game when he received a good pass into the box, but his shot was too weak to surprise Lechia’s keeper. Finally, Lech succeeded and took the lead. Jozwiak’s and Tomasik’s team offensive attempt ended with the latter sending the ball along the goal line. Unluckily for Lechia, the ball was accidentally redirected into the net by one of the defenders.
10 minutes before the final whistle, the team from Gdansk equalized following Mak’s breathtaking volley that left Buric helpless. Jozwiak, Kolodziej, and Vujadinovic all had chances to help their team regain the lead, but they lacked precision. Despite Lechia taking control of the match in the closing minutes, Lech managed to score a winner in the added time. Kolodziej sent a precise and well-timed pass into the box and Jevtic set the final score to 2:1 with an impressive lob. Hence, Lech triumphed in the last home game of the season.
