Following the painful 5:0 loss against Pogoń Szczecin, coach John van den Brom predicted a confident response from his squad, and that’s exactly what we saw in Lech’s Friday clash with Puszcza Niepołomice. The team from Poznań beat the Ekstraklasa newcomers 4:1 at home.
The match against Puszcza couldn’t have begun better for the hosts – less than 120 seconds into the match, the score changed and the fans gathered at Enea Stadium rejoiced. Mikael Ishak, who is returning to the starting line-up, spotted Adriel Ba Loua in the penalty box, sent him a precise pass, and the winger from Ivory Coast tapped the ball into the back of the net. It was Ba Loua’s 2 goal within a few days.
However, not long later, it was already 1:1. Kamil Zapolnik surprisingly placed the ball in Lech’s goal when Miha Blazić failed to intercept a long ball from the right flank.
Before the referee announced halftime, Lech took the lead again. This time, it was Jesper Karlstrom who converted a team effort into a beautiful shot under the crossbar. Following the break, another Swedish player added his name to the goal scorers’ sheet – captain Ishak fired a great shot from outside the box right into the corner of Puszcza’s goal.
In the added time, Elias Andersson sent a precise pass to Antonio Milić and the latter set the final score to 4:1 with a header.
With the upcoming international break, a few of Lech’s players are now off to join their national teams, whereas the rest of the squad will be preparing for the next league clash against another Ekstraklasa newcomer, ŁKS Łódź.
