On Saturday, Lech extended their winning streak. The team from Poznań welcomed Ekstraklasa newcomers ŁKS Łódź at Bułgarska Street and triumphed 3:1. The win puts Lech third in the league table.
The clash with the PKO BP Ekstraklasa newcomers couldn’t have begun better – in the 18th minute, Filip Marchwiński set up Mikael Ishak with a great pass and the captain beat ŁKS’s keeper with a precise shot near the post.
The hosts dominated on the pitch indisputably in the first half, and they highlighted their control of the game with another goal. Shortly before halftime, Ishak scored once again, this time following a pass from Kristoffer Velde.
In the second half, the team from Łódż surprised everyone with a few offensive attempts which resulted in a goal, thanks to Stipe Jurić. The same player placed the ball in the team of Lech’s net just two weeks earlier when Lech’s B team faced ŁKS.
However, the goal scored by Jurić was all that ŁKS was capable of on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the hosts managed to set the final score to 3:1 in the last phase of the game. Nika Kvekveskiri sent a perfect long ball to Velde and the latter converted the pass into a goal with a volley.
John van den Brom and his players won’t be celebrating the win for long as they have another match to prepare for – on Tuesday evening (6:00 pm), they will play a postponed league clash with Jagiellonia Białystok who is currently ranked second in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table.
