A tough game full of direct clashes, 6 yellow cards, but only one goal scored by Lech. The team from Poznań drew the PKO Ekstraklasa match against Cracovia 1:1.
The game against Cracovia took place just three days after a difficult Europa League clash with Benfica SL (2:4), hence Żuraw decided to give a few players some rest. The coach made 5 changes to the starting line-up in comparison to the match against Benfica. Pedro Tiba, Tymoteusz Puchacz and Mikael Ishak were all sat on the bench.
Despite so many changes, Lech dominated the game since the first whistle. Still, the hosts seemed to lack idea how to beat Cracovia’s defensive line which was very solid and rarely made any mistakes. The team from Cracow focused on defending their goal but whenever they got their first opportunity to counterattack, they managed to score. Dimun’s cross from the right flank reached van Amersfoort who converted the pass into a strong and precise shot.
Following the goal, Cracovia moved even deeper and guarded their goal with all force. For a long time, Lech struggled to find a way past Cracovia’s defensive line. Only 4 minutes before the final whistle did Lech manage to place the ball in the net – Awwad was the one to score an equalizer which was simultaneously his first goal for Lech. Unfortunately for the team from Poznań, they didn’t have enough time to score again, therefore the two teams had to share points.
