In the second Friday training game, Lech drew with Eintracht Frankfurt 2:2. Artur Sobiech and Nika Kvekveskiri scored for the Polish club, whereas Lucas Alario and Aurelio Buta found the back of the net for the Germans. It was Lech’s last sparring match in Dubai.
The two sides had less than 30 minutes of break between the first and the second sparring match. Both coaches decided to change the starting line-up for the second game. Players who haven’t had that many opportunities to compete this season were given a chance to show their skills.
Once again, Germans began strong. Lucas Alario found some free space on the left side of the penalty area and fired a shot towards the close corner, but Dominik Holec stayed vigilant and intervened well. Not long later, on the other end of the pitch, Filip Marchwiński impressed with a great pass which put Kristoffer Velde one-on-one with the keeper. Unfortunately, the Norwegian winger hesitated too long, and his attempt ended up being blocked by one of Eintracht’s defenders. A few minutes later, having learned from his mistake, in a very similar situation Velde decided to pass to Artur Sobiech and his older teammate effortlessly placed the ball in the back of the net.
Lech didn’t slow down after the first goal. In the 16th minute, the Polish side interestingly executed a corner kick. Gio Tsitaishvili ended up being the recipient of the ball in Eintracht’s box and he managed to dribble past three players impressively, but his shot was too weak to cause problems for Diant Ramaj. His Georgian teammate, Nika Kvekverskiri, tried scoring a couple of moments later and his attempt was strong enough to fly past Eintracht’s keeper. The midfielder converted a free kick into a beautiful goal for Lech which Ramaj had no chance of saving. Kvekveskiri was playing impressively on Friday, and he even tried surprising the keeper again, this time with a shot from Lech’s half of the pitch. Unfortunately, his attempt was slightly off target. The Polish side remained in control of the game, but to everyone’s surprise, Eintracht managed to score before halftime. Alario received a good pass from the right flank, and he beat Holec with a strong, flat shot.
The second half was slower, and most of the play happened in the midfield. 15 minutes into the second part of the match, Lech initiated a good counterattack – Velde broke loose on the left flank and passed to Tsitaishivili. The Georgian player fired a strong shot with his better, left foot which Ramaj managed to stop. The goalkeeper also successfully intervened when Sobiech tried to surprise him with a follow-up shot. The wasted goal-scoring opportunities took revenge on Lech in the 78th minute when Eintracht equalized. Aurelio Buta converted a team effort into the second goal. The Polish side had a chance to turn the tables again, but Kristoffer Velde failed to beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation. As a result, the friendly match ended in a 2:2 draw.
