On Saturday, Lech’s senior team and the reserves faced each other in an internal training match. The game ended with a 1:1 draw following goals from Marchwinski and Tupaj.
The opening minutes of the match were dominated by Lech’s senior players. Within the first 10 minutes, the A team had two decent scoring chances but Zhamaledtinov’s shot from outside the box was easily stopped by the keeper and Gajos’s attempt was slightly off target. The reserves team responded with an offensive attack led by their defender Pawlicki, however, Putnocky intervened well. Lech’s first team gradually took control of the match but neither Zhamaledtinov nor Marchwinski managed to convert chances into goals. Finally, in the 36th minute, the young striker received a pass just on the edge of the box, found a good position to shoot and placed the ball in the back of the net. Before the referee announced halftime, Lech’s B team has an opportunity to equalize when Kaczmarek raced down the flank and sent a good pass into the box where Kurminowski was waiting, but the latter was successfully stopped by the goalkeeper.
In the second half, Lech’s senior squad remained in possession of the ball for a majority of the time and looked for chances to change the score. In the 52nd minute, Jozwiak sent a smart backward pass to Gajos who was positioned just outside the box, but the midfielder’s shot was off target. In the last half an hour, Nawalka sent in two youngsters who normally compete for the B team – Adamczak and Karbownik. Shortly afterwards, Draszczyk replaced Gumny on the pitch.
About an hour into the match, the younger squad managed to equalize following Putnocky’s mistake. Tupaj was the one who recovered the ball from the goalkeeper and tapped it into the open net. Lech’s B team was ambitious and kept on attacking. A few minutes after their equalizer, Kaczmarek’s shot missed the goal by centimetres. In the closing minutes of the game, De Marco had a chance to win the match for the senior team, but his attempt stopped on the post, hence the internal clash between Lech’s two squads ended with a one-goal draw.
Following the match, the B team’s coach did not hide his satisfaction with the team’s performance. “I am happy with my players’ performance because there is a difference in the level of the two teams. It’s the first time this spring that we played on a natural pitch and we managed to look good. We didn’t do everything perfectly, not everything went according to plan, but there were moments when we played like equals and we scored a goal, therefore we are very happy with the game,” commented coach Zuraw. Meanwhile, the senior team’s assistant coach emphasized the reason behind this internal game. “The aim of this match was to ensure that our team was in the rhythm and we achieved this objective. Today’s game was balanced, both teams performed at a decent level and created scoring chances. The final score reflects what we saw on the pitch,” summarized coach Zajac.
