FK Bodø/Glimt – Lech Poznań 0:0
No goals were scored in the first leg of Lech’s clash with FK Bodø/Glimt, but the Polish side still has a chance to make it to the next round of the Europa Conference League. The second leg, played on Thursday next week at the Poznań Stadium, will determine who gets to compete in the round of 16.
Lech’s adventures in the international arena this season have taken the team on a long trip across Europe – from Iceland, through Spain, Austria, Israel, to Georgia, and Azerbaijan. In the round of 32 of the Europa Conference League, the Poznań squad drew FK Bodø/Glimt and for the first time travelled as far as the Arctic Circle.
The Norwegian side made it all the way to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League last season. Hence, everyone expected the match in Norwegian to be a tough one – not only is the opponent challenging but so are the weather conditions and the artificial turf at Aspmyra Stadium.
Although on the day before the game, the weather seemed merciful, a few hours prior to the match, heavy rainfalls and strong winds began. Thankfully, the weather conditions eased up right before the game which undoubtedly helped Lech achieve an important draw.
The match itself was far from exhilarating – both teams focused meticulously on tactics hence the clash resembled a chess game. John van den Brom’s squad had one excellent opportunity to score but Filip Marchwiński’s shot was just slightly off target, hence Lech failed to turn the tables.
As a result, the second leg will be the decisive one. The match in Poznań is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 pm. However, before Lech faces FK Bodø/Glimt in the second game of the round of 32, they will play Zagłębie Lubin at home on Sunday (3:00 pm) in a league match.
