Buric with a new contract

On Tuesday morning Jasmin Buric signed a new contract with Lech Poznan, extending his deal with the club until June 2019.

"It didn't take long for both sides to reach an agreement on the extension of the contract. Jasmin has been with us for the past 7 years and we are glad to have him for another 3 years. Both parties were willing to sign a deal, thus we reached an agreement quickly, which is a reason to be happy," said Lech's vice-chairman, Piotr Rutkowski.

The goalkeeper is not any less joyful about the new contract, since now he is able to focus on the preparations for the spring round. "I have already decided some time ago that I want to stay in Lech. We reached an agreement without problems and set the conditions quickly. I did not want any transfer. I am happy with the life I have in Poznan; I know the city and the club very well," explained the Bosnian player.

Buric signed his first deal with Lech in December 2008. 6 months earlier he came to Poznan for medical tests and that is when the decision and the player's transfer was made. During the past 7 years Buric protected Lech's goal in 131 matches. He won the Polish Championship twice and got the chance to celebrate a triumph in the Super Cup.

"I spent my whole life in Bosnia and Lech was the first foreign club that I joined. I liked it here and therefore I decided that the transfer would be a good decision. I used all the opportunities I have been given here in Lech and I believe I gave a lot to the team. I can thank for those past years since I will recall them with a smile. This period in Poznan passed really quickly," emphasized Buric. "I will be 29 years old soon and it is going to be the right time to start thinking about retirement," joked the goalkeeper.

Buric has been the first-choice goalkeeper this season. He played in 33 matches and in 15 of them he kept the sheet clean. "Coach Dawidziuk told me I am at the best age any goalkeeper can be. If it is true, then I have a good reason to be happy," told us Lech's goalkeeper.

The Bosnian player is the first footballer that had a contract expiring in June and decided to extend the deal with Lech. In half-a-year's time Marcin Kaminski, Barry Douglas and Szymon Pawlowski will have their contract end. "The negotiations are in progress," said Rutkowski. The only player that has not yet received an offer is Gergo Lovrencsics. "We are going to meet his agents in February," explained Lech's vice-chairman.
