Barry Douglas, who was a part of the squad that won the championship title back in 2015, will once again compete for the team from Poznań. The Scottish left-back has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Lech.
Douglas joined Lech back in 2013 and played at Bułgarska street for 2,5 years. He appeared in a total of 75 games for the team from Poznań, scored 5 goals and added 21 assists. In 2015, he helped the squad win the Polish championship; 6 years later the supporters still recall his outstanding goal against Legia Warsaw (2:1). In the winter transfer window of the 2015/16 season, Douglas joined Konyaspor and went on to win the national title with the Turkish club. In the summer of 2017, Scott moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers and played a key role in the team’s promotion to the Premier League – he scored 5 goals and got 14 assists in 39 games. After the impressive season with the Wolves, the left-back joined Leeds United and also went on to win promotion to the top division. For the past year, he has been competing for Blackburn Rovers on a loan.
The 31-year-old received numerous offers from English and Scottish clubs but decided to return to Poland and play for Maciej Skorża who led Lech to the championship back in 2015 and to the Europa League group phase the following season.
The player has arrived in Poland but he won’t be joining the rest of the squad for now as he will most likely have to undergo quarantine. The left-back still has to pass medical tests and sign the contract which will tie him with the club until 2023.
