The global ecommerce leader is connected with a leading football brand.
AliExpress, the leading global retail online marketplace under Alibaba Group, has become a new sponsor of Lech Poznań, leading football club in Poland. The deal between the recognized football brand and the second most-visited by Poles online retail platform will last until June 30, 2021, with the possibility of extension.
The partnership marks the first sports marketing project for AliExpress globally, demonstrating the platform’s continued commitment to the Polish market.
This fall, Lech Poznań is the only Polish club to represent the country in the group stage of European cups - with Thursday's match against Portuguese Benfica, Lisbon began the Europa League. Kolejorz, as it is called by its fans, is the current vice-champion of Poland and a strong, recognized brand
on the domestic market. And not only. Poznań is the best in training young people in Poland, which not only supports teams from leading European leagues, but also constitutes a solid foundation
in the Polish national team. That's not all, because Lech is also a top club in terms of media – their games have one of the best viewers, and interest of media and fans is reflected in the statistics of club communication channels.
- AliExpress is one of the fastest developing ecommerce and lifestyle brands in Poland who match the youth engagement and youth appeal of Lech. Since negotiations started well before the Polish vice championship victory and Europa League qualification, the partnership is a confirmation for us that our club has a strong brand. Our reputation turned out to be crucial not only on the Polish but also European market. A nice addition to the cooperation are the favorable purchase conditions on the platform negotiated for our fans, especially during AliExpress’ upcoming Singles Day and Black Week sales - says Karol Klimczak, President of the Management Board of KKS Lech Poznań.
For AliExpress, building up to its record-breaking Global Shopping Festival on November 11 and November 12, also known as Singles Day, the partnership marks a first step into sports marketing globally. The selection of Lech and the Polish market is another demonstration of the platform’s commitment to its Polish customers. AliExpress logo will be printed on shorts of the Lech team, and the sponsor's advertisements will be placed in the stadium during league matches. In addition, AliExpress has prepared special discount codes for Lech fans – 100s of millions of products available on the platform will be available at even lower prices during AliExpress’ Singles Day and Black Week sales. It will be a unique gift for a large group of people who cheer for Kolejorz. Details of this promotion will be announced shortly.
- Poland is one of our leading markets in Europe, and football is a national sport for Poles. We want the cooperation with Lech Poznań to symbolize our commitment to the Polish market. Lech is an ambitious team, committed to youth development and representing Poland in the Europa League this year. We will be looking at ways to integrate ecommerce, content and digitalization into the partnership over the coming season. Starting with our Singles Day campaign in November - emphasized Gary Topp, CEO of AliExpress Central and Eastern Europe.
Lech Poznań’s next game will be on October 15 against Cracovia. Where the AliExpress logo will be shown on the shorts for the first time. The kit will also be used as Lech represents Poland in the Europa League games for the rest of the season.
AliExpress’ Global Shopping Festival will commence on November 11 until November 12 2020, with 70% off across the site. Interested users should visit the AliExpress website or app from October 28th to learn more.
