Lech Poznan hasn’t yet lost the race for the Championship, but in order to triumph, the players from Poznan not only have to win all their remaining matches, but also hope for Legia to slip. “First of all, we do our job, and then we look at others,” emphasised Lech’s footballers.
The two upcoming league matches Lech Poznan will play at home. On Sunday Lechia Gdansk will visit INEA Stadium, while a week later Wisla Cracow will travel all the way to Poznan. The last match of the season will take place in Bialystok where Lech will face Jagiellonia. “I hope the last game will be the decisive one. I believe Jagiellonia will challenge Legia in their direct clash. That would put fate back in our hands,” explained Maciej Makuszewski.
However, Lech’s footballers repeat that the most important thing for them is their own performance. The differences in the league points between the top teams remain small and each one of the 4 clubs still has a chance to win the Championship. “We have 3 matches to play and 9 points to collect. We know what the league is like – anything can happen. But firstly, we need to focus on ourselves. We have to win the 3 games and later on we can look at all the rest,” said Dawid Kownacki.
The key in the race for the Championship is for Lech to get back on the winning track. The Wednesday loss against Legia was the third time that Lech lost 3 points in the league this year and the second one in the league itself. “Our performance is crucial and only when we play all three games can we look at other teams. We will do our best to react to the loss the same way we did after the lost Polish Cup final – we put it behind us quickly and won the next league game in Nieciecza,” explained Maciej Wilusz.
The training staff has an equally important task to complete in this final stage of the season – they need to keep the players highly concentrated. “There are 3 matches to go and we are only 2 points behind Legia. It’s not like we’ve already lost. We have to win every single game that’s left, but let’s not forget that Legia isn’t a team out of this world; if they were, they’d have 15 points advantage over us. They had to beat us in order to take the occupy the first rank in the league,” emphasized Lukasz Tralka.
