Radomiak Radom - Lech Poznań 2:2

Lech Poznań failed to hold onto the two-goal advantage and had to share league points with Radomiak. The 2:2 draw was a reason to celebrate for Raków Częstochowa, who now have a 2-point advantage over their opponent in the season's final stage.

Lech Poznań has been performing impressively over the past few weeks. They travelled to Radom to face Radomiak after 4 wins in a row. Prior to the Sunday clash, Niels Frederiksen’s players already knew that if they wanted to hold onto their position in the league table, they needed to beat Radomiak. However, in the past few years, winning against the opponent from Radom hasn’t been an easy task – ever since they advanced to the top division, Lech has failed to defeat Radomiak when playing away.

The Sunday match couldn’t have begun better for Frederiksen’s squad as they found the back of the net for the first time in the 5th minute. Filip Jagiełło spotted Mikael Ishak inside the box and served him a perfect pass, which the Swede converted into a goal with a strong shot under the crossbar. Lech continued dominating on the pitch following their successful offensive attempt, but didn’t create many goal-scoring opportunities, until the 30th minute, when Joel Pereira crossed the ball into the box and Marcho Burch’s poor defensive intervention allowed Jagiełło to head the ball into the back of the net. As a result, Lech left for the break with a comfortable, two-goal advantage.

Lech in the second half looked nothing like the team that scored twice in the first 45 minutes. Frederiksen’s squad lost control of the game and struggled a lot with Radomiak’s pressing. Despite being in possession of the ball, the hosts didn’t cause problems to Bartosz Mrozek. However, in the 79th minute, Wojciech Mońka made a costly error and passed the ball to Capita, who didn’t hesitate as he fired a strong shot from outside the box at Lech’s goal; the attempt was impossible for Mrozek to stop. Radomiak sensed an opportunity to turn the tables and kept pressing Lech, but without much effect. Just when it seemed that Lech would manage to hold onto the win, in the 91st minute, Tapsoba took advantage of a miscommunication between Mrozek and Milić, and set the final score to 2:2.
