On Valentine’s Day, Lech Poznań welcomed Raków Częstochowa at Bułgarska Street. The hosts ended up losing 1:0. It was their second home defeat this season.
Niels Frederiksen’s squad faced Raków Częstochowa after a surprising loss against Lechia Gdańsk (0:1), the week before. For Lech’s opponent, the previous match also wasn’t a successful one – they lost three points in the clash with GKS Katowice (1:2). So far this season, Lech has successfully bounced back from all of their league losses and the fans were hoping that this weekend would be no different.
In the first half, Raków implemented high, aggressive pressing - causing problems to Lech’s defensive line - whilst looking for chances to cross the ball from the flanks into the box. Jonatan Braut Brunes came close to scoring, but Bartosz Mrozek stopped the header from crossing the goal line. In the 37th minute, Gustav Berggren found the back of the net, but the referee disallowed the goal. Finally, in the added time, the guests changed the score following a corner kick, thanks to Stratos Svarnas.
The second half looked similar to the first 45 minutes. Marek Papszun’s team didn’t make things easy for Lech, all whilst creating goal-scoring opportunities. Bartosz Mrozek was forced to intervene regularly and the Polish goalkeeper delivered each time. Adriano Amorima’s header came close to changing the score, but Mrozek stopped the ball from hitting the net. Lech responded with a few shots on target of their own but Kacper Trelowski easily saved Mikael Ishak’s and Antoni Kozubal’s attempts. The squad from Częstochowa held onto the score until the final whistle and collected three important league points. As a result of Lech’s second loss in a row, Jagiellonia Białystok now has the same number of league points as Niels Frederiksen’s squad.
