The match against Zagłębie Lubin kept fans holding their breath until the final whistle. After an exhilarating second half, Lech Poznań managed to hold onto a 3:2 win and maintained their position at the top of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table.
The first half of the match in Lubin demonstrated which of the two teams is a favourite in the race for the championship title. Lech demolished Zagłębie’s defensive line and quickly found a way to place the ball in the back of their rival’s net. First, Antonio Milić converted Barry Douglas’ cross into a precise header that changed the score to 1:0, and then, not long after, Joao Amaral put Lech up by two goals.
Lech came back for the second half full of confidence. However, their two-goal advantage was soon stolen away as Zagłębie scored in the 49th minute. The team from Poznań responded with a brilliant offensive attempt built by Adriel Ba Loa and Jakub Kamiński which the latter converted into a third goal for Lech. However, Skorża’s squad didn’t celebrate long as the hosts changed the score to 2:3 following yet another set piece.
Lech had a few more goal-scoring opportunities – among them Kamiński’s blocked attempt and Ishak’s shot that stopped on the crossbar – but none of the players managed to covert the chances. Still, despite the nervous closing minutes of the game, the team from Poznań held onto the win and maintained their position as the leader in the league table. In the upcoming PKO BP Ekstraklasa game, Lech will face Radomiak (December 11th, 3pm)
