The prestigious Lech Cup U-12 tournament is closer and closer. We already know the first six teams that will appear in the Poznan Arena in December. Who are the last three candidates for the Lech Cup trophy 2014?
The successful Belgians
Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht is the most successful Belgian club, both in the national competition as well as on the international arena. The current Jupiler Pro League champion has the highest league frequency, similarly to Lech Poznan. But the supporters of Anderlecht arent all Belgians. RSCA has 77 fan clubs, 5 of them outside of Belgiums borders and one of them in Poland. In December Sporting will visit its Polish fans. Its their support that the young 12 year-olds count for during their fight for the Lech Cup trophy.
The Tukkers
FC Twente is a Dutch club well-known for its academy. Its schooling system puts an emphasis on the education, as well as the Fair Play rules and training the kids in a similar manner as the senior team. No wonder the successes are visible both, on the professional level, as well as among youth teams. The players of the Dutch academy win in different age categories. Twentes school has been named the best one in the country numerous times. The talented 12 years old Tukkers will visit Poznan in the first weekend of December to join Lech Cup tournament.
Portuguese gold mine
In its ranking of top 15 football academies Bleacher Report placed Sporting Club de Portugal on the 2nd place! It isnt surprising knowing that the winner of Balon dOr in 2008 and 2013 is Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese star that began his career at the Lisbon academy. But he isnt the only player that Sporting can be proud of. The well-known Nani or Dynamo Kievs midfielder Miguel Veloso have been schooled in the Portuguese academy. Sporting regularly supplies the National Team of each age category with its homegrown players. Poznans fans will have an opportunity to see the young stars from Lisbon in December, when the Portuguese U-12 team is going to join the fight for the Lech Cup trophy.
