Warta Poznań – Lech Poznań 1:2 

The first half of the clash between the two teams from Poznań wasn’t an exhilarating one. The two goalkeepers were jobless for the majority of the time hence the goalless draw at halftime. However, as soon as the referee resumed the play after the break, the match became much more interesting.

Before Lech could get into the rhythm of the second half, Warta took advantage of their rival’s lack of concentration and scored an opening goal thanks to a precise attempt from Kuzimski. A 1:0 win was a satisfactory score for coach Tworek’s team, therefore Warta could move back into deep defence. As a result, Lech was forced to look for creative ways to beat their opponent’s solid defensive line.

The team from Bułgarska street finally successfully beat Warta’s defence in the 80^th minute. Vasyl Kravets, who had just come in from the bench, sent a perfect cross into the box which Pedro Tiba extended and Aron Johannsson redirected into the back of the net.

However, since a draw wasn’t satisfactory for Lech, coach Żuraw’s squad kept on pressing on Warta’s defensive line with an even higher intensity. Bartosz Salamon appeared on the pitch just before the final whistle and was meant to help his teammates in the air with his height. The new defender did play a key role in the decisive offensive attempt of the match. Just as the referee was about to end the game, Salamon fired a shot at the goal and although his attempt was blocked by one of Warta’s defenders, Tiba intercepted the ball following the intervention and successfully placed it in the back of the net, arousing wild joy among Lech’s squad.
