Lech once again triumphs in the Poznań derby. For the 7th time in a row, the club from Bułgarska Street turned out to be the better side in the clash with Warta.
Even though the match was held at Enea Stadium – Lech’s home ground – this time Warta was the host. However, it didn’t change the fact that both in the stands, and on the pitch, blue-and-white shirts dominated.
Lech was in control of the match since its beginning. John van den Brom surprised everyone with an unusual formation – the Dutch coach opted for three defenders with Dino Hotić and Kristoffer Velde on the wing, supporting the defensive line. The new tactics bore fruit – Warta struggled to adjust to Lech’s formation and their opponent took advantage of it. Finally, towards the end of the first half, John van den Brom’s squad converted one of their scoring opportunities into a goal – Filip Marchwiński received a great pass from Afonso Sousa and placed the ball in the back of the net.
It wasn’t until Adriel Ba Loua appeared in the second half that Lech scored the night's second and final goal. The winger sent a beautiful pass along the goal line and Filip Dagerstal set the score to 2:0.
It was Lech’s 7th triumph over Warta in a row. Finally, John van den Brom’s players ended a series of poor performances in the league.
On Saturday, the team from Poznań will face Stal Mielec at home.
