Nineteen Lech Poznań players have received a call-up from their national team coaches for the upcoming international break. Bartosz Mrozek and Daniel Håkans will begin the fight for a spot at next year’s World Cup, whereas Ali Gholizadeh and his teammates have a chance to advance to the tournament during this international break.
Bartosz Mrozek received another call-up for the Polish senior national team. For one of the top goalkeepers in the league, it’s the fourth international break that he will spend training with coach Michał Probierz. The Polish squad will kick off the World Cup qualifiers with two home matches – against Lithuania and Malta. Daniel Håkans will face the same two teams but in away games. The Finnish national team is in the same qualification group as the Poles and for them, this international break is also the beginning of the fight for a spot at next year’s tournament. Meanwhile, Ali Gholizadeh and his teammates are close to advancing to the World Cup. Iran has two crucial clashes ahead of them – against UAE and Uzbekistan who are direct contenders for the spot at the tournament held in North America. If Gholizadeh and his teammates manage to win six points, they will win the group and advance to the tournament.
The Polish U-21 squad is currently preparing for the European Championship in June. The 3:3 draw against Germany helped Poland advance to the main phase of the tournament. During this international break, they will play two friendlies in Turkey – against Denmark and Ukraine. Antoni Kozubal and Filip Szymczak will have a chance to appear on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Wojciech Mońka, Michał Gurgul, and Bartłomiej Barański have important matches ahead of them. The three Lech Poznań youngsters will play in the U-19 European Championship qualifiers against Georgia, Montenegro, and Slovakia. Only the best team will qualify for the main phase of the tournament. Matsvei Bakhno has also received a call-up for this international break – the Belarussian U-19 squad will face Cyprus in a two-leg game. In the meantime, Kamil Jakóbczyk will travel to Spain to participate in a U-18 friendly tournament where Poland will play against Wales, Scotland, and Sweden.
Many Lech Poznań U-17 players have received a call-up from the Polish national team coach. Karol Delikat, Patryk Prajsnar, Sammy Dudek, Tymoteusz Gmur, and Eryk Śledziński will have an opportunity to appear in the European Championship and World Cup qualifiers against Iceland, Ireland, and Belgium. The best squad will advance to the main phase of the EURO, whereas the four best second-place squads will also travel to the World Cup.
Piotr Bartczak, Hubert Janyszka, Aleksander Klimkiewicz, Igor Owczarek, and Hubert Smyrak, along with their U-16 teammates, will face Ukraine, Montenegro, and Romania in a friendly tournament held in Bucharest. In addition, at the end of March, the U-15 squad – including Wojciech Orzechowski – will meet for a national team grouping.
