In response to the extraordinary situation caused by the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, Macron – the Italian manufacturer of sportswear and Lech’s technical sponsor – initiated a non-profit initiative “Stop COVID-19/Macron #noicisiamo".
The company has been using its manufacturing headquarters located in Asia and Italy to produce and then distribute safety gear such as facemasks, protective clothing, and medical aprons for healthcare employees who take care of those suffering from coronavirus.
The project encompassed an initiation of an advanced operational and logistical process, both within Italian borders, as well as internationally. Macron started manufacturing protective gear at a large scale which will be transported to the company’s distribution centre in Valsamoggia (Bologne) with designated charter flights. For the following few days, the gear will be distributed among healthcare units and hospitals. The first 8 million pieces of protective clothing and accessories are expected to arrive this week.
All masks, clothing, and aprons have been manufactured in accordance with the highest medical standards and safety certificates, whilst the process of production is being closely monitored by Macron’s quality inspectors. As per the Italian government’s latest regulations, Lech’s technical sponsor can only distribute the products within the borders of the Apennine Peninsula. However, Macron is preparing to expand its distribution to other countries – both European and non-European – where the company has already established its presence over the years of its existence.
“It seemed natural to us that in those difficult moments, we ought to support not only our homeland, but also the whole world,” said Gianluca Pavanello, Macron’s CEO. “We have a well-organised production line in Asian which is capable of manufacturing various types of protective gear which is in demand currently. As a result, we came up with the project "Stop COVID-19/Macron #noicisiamo”. I am immensely proud of the effort and commitment which we all put into this initiative, as well as our rapid reaction to the global crisis,” added the CEO.
The project "Stop COVID-19/Macron #noicisiamo” is another attempt to help the world win one of the most important and difficult global fights of recent years. What truly matters now is health and future of nations across the globe. The company’s logo displays Macron Hero – a symbol of joy from an accomplished objective. Never before has Macron’s philosophy been so aligned with the challenge that the whole world is currently facing.
