The Polish Champion was drawn to be a part of group I. According to the clubs' ranking, the strongest rival is FC Basel whom Lech faced in the III round of Champions League qualifications. Back then the Swiss team beat Lech twice - 3:1 at INEA Stadium and 1:0 in Basel. The team from Poznan will get a chance to take a revenge on the Swiss Champion.
Lech will also face Fiorentina. The Italians advanced to Europa League group phase after being placed fourth in Serie A last season.
The last rival Lech will have to compete with is Belenenses Lisbon. The Portugal team was placed sixth in Liga Sagres last season. They qualified to the European competition thanks to a place that was freed, as both finalists of the Portuguese Cup had already qualified. Belenenses started off from the III round. First the club from Lisbon beat IFK Goteborg (2:1 at home, 0:0 away), and then SCR Altach (1:0 away, 0:0 at home).
