The first 10 minutes of the match were made up of struggle in the midfield with neither of the team taking over the initiative. However, it was Lech who created the first goal-scoring opportunity of the game. In the 9th minute Lovrencsics had some trouble controlling the ball in the opponents penalty area but Wilusz pressed and at last he placed it in the net, but according to the referee, he first committed a foul and the goal was disallowed. Zawisza did not seem to react to the intense offensive of Lech and in the 13th minute they were left behind. Jevtić sent a great pass to Sadajew and the forward decided for an individual action that ended with a goal but thanks to the unfortunate intervention of one of the defenders. The guests replied two minutes later when but Luis Carlos wasted a great chance by hitting the post. In the 18th minute Sadajew was the one to send the ball, this time to Lovrencsics and the Hungarian player beat Sandomierski with a great technical shot. Despite an evident domination Lech kept on attacking and they had plenty of opportunities to change the result, but neither Hamalainen, Pawłowski nor Sadajew used their chances. Wasted opportunities took revenge on the hosts and soon it was 2:2. Firstly, it was Drygas who sent the ball on the fifth meter where Andre Micael was waiting to place it in the net. Lech was surprised and Zawisza kept on pressing until they succeeded in the 42nd minute when Wagner scored an equalizer despite Kotorowskis intervention. However, it did not take long for the hosts to get back in the game as Lovrencsicss cross and Hamalainens finish resulted in the regain of the lead.

The second half started well for the hosts. In the 50th minute Ziajka made a fatal mistake by practically giving away the ball to Trałka not far from his own goal and the midfielder decided for a pass to Sadajew. Andre Micael stopped the new player of Lech but there was no hesitation of the referee as he pointed to the middle of the penalty area and raised a red card in the air. Jevtić whose performance that night was outstanding sent the ball flying into the net from 16th meter and once again Lech had a two-goal lead. In the 57th minute it should have been 5:2 but Hamalainen lost a one-on-one confrontation with Sandomierski. The hosts kept on attacking and in the 66th minute they succeeded for the fifth time. Hamalainen sent a long ball to Pawłowski who rushed into the penalty area and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot. Jevtić added a second goal to his account in the 82nd minute when he received a pass from Formella and gave no chance to Sandomierski as he sent the ball into the net right next to the post. Lech slowed down in the last minutes, making sure they were in possession of the ball and that the effective result 6:2 did not change.
