In the game opening the rivalry in the champions group, Lech Poznań won at home with Wisła Kraków 3:0.
Lech was definitive favorite of the game with Wisła and the players of Rumak have proved so in the first quarter of the game. In the 7th minute the ball accidentally found Teodorczyk who was faster than Miśkiewicz and sent the ball into the net with a header. 4 minutes later Uryga unsuccessfully tried to stop Hamalainen and he took his goalkeeper on surprise, turning the result to 2:0. Wisła created their first chance in the 23rd minute but Kędziora blocked Stilics shot at the last moment. Despite a two-goal lead, the game was played mainly on the half of the guests. Lech was closer to scoring their third goal than conceding one. Pawłowski wasted a great chance in the 35th minute when he missed with a header from Claasens cross.
The second half did not look the same, with Lechs domination being clearly smaller. The match seemed balanced, yet it were the hosts who created chances. In the 60th minute Pawłowski could have made it 3:0 after Hamalainen sent him a great ball but the winger shot in the side net. In the 78th minute the result changed. Lovrencsics who has just came on sent a precise cross from the right flank and Hamalainen smartly placed the ball in the net. The Finnish player could have added another goal to his account 2 minutes later, once again after Lovrencsics pass, but the attempt to lob the goalkeeper was a failure. In the 85th minute it should have been 4:0 but neither Claasen nor Hamalainen used Lovrencsics passes.
