In the first sparring match of the pre-season, Lech Poznan beat Warta Poznan 2:0. Kamil Jozwiak scored both goals. The next game, against Hapoel Beer Sheva, is scheduled for June 30th.
The match began perfectly for the top-division team from Poznan. In the 5th minute, Kamil Jozwiak recovered the ball close to Warta’s penalty area, entered the box and beat the goalkeeper with a technical shot. The opening minutes were dominated by Lech Poznan. Djurdjevic’s team focused on attacking with both wings. Meanwhile, Warta awaited opportunities to counterattack, but they struggled to convert those chances into dangerous shots.
Within 15 minutes, Lech had a two-goal lead. Darko Jevtic received the ball and decided for a long pass to Jozwiak who was positioned behind Warta’s defenders. The young midfielder placed the ball in the back of the net. 6 minutes later Jevtic and Tomasik built a decent offensive action using the left wing. The latter sent the ball to Vernon De Marco who was standing 30 meters from the goal. The center-back decided to shoot from outside the box but his attempt was easily stopped by Warta’s keeper.
Lech controlled the game even when their rival approached the goal which was being guarded by Putnocky. However, Warta struggled to beat Janicki and Rogne. Every now and then, Lech counterattack and caused problems to Warta’s defensive line. Nonetheless, neither of the teams manager to score again in the first half.
Djurdjevic decided to let all the substitutes play and changed the line-up for the second half. Barkroth and Tomczyk were the first ones to attack in the second half. The Swede sent a precise cross into the box, but the young forward’s header was off target and the ball flew next to the goal.
The numerous substitutions didn’t impact the match. Lech remained in control of the match and seemed more eager to score than their rivals. However, the top-division team lacked precision and accuracy in the second part of the game, thus struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Szymanski, Lech’s substitute goalkeeper who’s joined the club recently was rarely forced to intervene. 3 minutes before the final whistle, Tomczyk received a good cross from Kostevych, but his attempt was off target.
Lech didn’t manage to score another goal but the two-nil win was a good start of the pre-season. The next sparring match is scheduled for next Saturday when Lech is going to face an Israeli team called Hapoel Beer Sheva.
