In the return leg of the third qualifying round for the Europa League Lech Poznań drew with Stjarnan 0:0 and left the battle for the group phase.
We want the qualification was the first thing that the fans sang when the players entered the pitch. The team seemed to have wanted the same as they started pressing and attacking since the first whistle. In the 25th second Pawłowski tested Jonssons concentration. In the 6th minute Keita took two corner kicks and his precise centers resulted in two headers of Ubiparip and Kamiński but in both cases the goalkeeper intervened successfully. 3 minutes later the Serbian forward had another chance but he missed slightly. Unfortunately, the promising game lasted only 10 minutes. After that the hosts had difficulties to cause any trouble to the opponents goalkeeper. The Icelandic players seemed to have focused on the defense and the only accurate shot was the attempt by Johannsson in the 32nd minute but Kotorowski easily caught the ball. The only mistake done by the defenders of the guests took place in the additional time of the first half when on the 8th meter the ball fell by the feet of Ubiparip but the forwards shot was blocked.
Mariusz Rumak did not decide for any changes at halftime but he made Pawłowski and Keita switch the sides. Before the second 45 minutes started the fans, apart from demanding a win, started chanting that the jokes were over. Lech kept on attacking but the chances did not come. Mariusz Rumak made an attempt to strengthen the offensive and sent Lovrencsics and Teodorczyk on the pitch. The substitutions changed little and yet the fans kept on supporting the team as loud as they could. Their patience was on the edge of running out when in the 67th minute Henriquez and Kamińskis mistakes resulted in Aegisson being one-on-one with Kotorowski. Fortunately for the hosts, the shot was too weak to cause any trouble to the Polish goalkeeper. Teodorczyk tried heading the ball in the net a minute later but Jonsson intervened successfully. Mariusz Rumak made the last substitution in the 76th minute. Without having anything to lose, he took off Kędziora and sent in Dawid Kownacki. However, yet again it did not change much. The additional 4 minutes werent of any use to the hosts and Lech Poznań was eliminated from the qualification for the Europa League. The fans, humiliated and furious, started demanding a dismissal of the coach. The Icelandic players were applauded loudly by the fans of Kolejorz.
