In the 17th round of T-Mobile Football League Lech Poznań lost 0 to 1 to Polonia Warszawa. The goal that gave the away team the victory was scored by Łukasz Piątek. For Lech it was the fourth defeat in a row in front of their fans.
After the first spring round there was no doubt who was the favorite of today's clash. However, right after a few minutes it turned out that game would not be an easy walk in the park for Lech. In 5th minute Przybecki started a marvelous counter. The winger began his rally on his own half and ended it in the penalty box where Burić managed to tackle the ball straight out from under his feet. A minute later the visitors took the lead. Piątek delivered a great shot from a distance not giving any chance for Burić to defend. The goal left Lech in such a shock that in the 8th minute they could have been losing 0:2. Kaminski lost the ball in his own penalty area to Gołębiewski, but Polonia Warszawa striker kicked it too light and Burić didn't have any problems with an effective intervention. Hamalainen gave the signal to attack. In the 10th minute he accurately executed a free-kick from 25 meters, but the hit didn't surprise Polonia's goalkeeper- Pawełek. Unfortunately, it was the only attempt on target by the team from Poznań in the first half. Subsequent attempts from outside the box by Murawski or Tonev were off target. Pawelek-Polonia's goalie tried to "help" Lech and in the 16th minute being attacked by Bartosz Ślusarski played the ball directly at the feet of Łukasz Trałka. Lech's midfielder took it on the 40th meter and immediately tried to take advantage of the absence of guests' goalkeeper in the goal, but his attempt was useless. In the 28th minute Lech wasted the best opportunity. Tonev took the ball from Todorovski on the 25th meter, rushed into the box and smashed the ball into the goalbar. Polonia became active once again at the end when Hołota shot from distance. The strike was defended by Burić.
During the break, coach Mariusz Rumak decided to strengthen the attacking force and replace Drewniak with Ubiparip. And he was the hero of the first two offensive actions by Kolejorz. In the 46th minute Ubiparip tackled the ball near the penalty area and decided to shoot ,but the deflected ball fell into the hands of Pawełek. A minute later the players from Warsaw once again lost the ball near their goal. Hamalainen took it and immediately passed to Ubiparip but his shot from a tight angle was too light to cause any problems for Polonia's goalkeeper. Lech also committed some mistakes while distributing the ball. In 49th minute one of them enabled Przybecki to shoot from 40 meters. His shot was much better than Trałka's in the first half and Burić was barely able to send the ball over the bar. There should have been a draw in the 54th minute . Ceesay curled it from the right side, but Ślusarski missed the goal with a header just by inches. Polonia was also trying to counter attack and in the 64th minute they could have scored the second goal. Przybecki, who was on the right side, crossed it to unattended Piątek. He delivered a header ,but hitting it not clearly missed the goal by a fingernail. Two minutes later Hamalainen had a good opportunity to score.
The Finn got a random ball from Ceesay and decided on a flat shot which was just a bit off target. Kolejorz continued to try, but had no luck in front of the goal of their rivals. For example, in the 75th minute when a juicy shot by Możdżeń from 18 meters missed the post again. Six minutes later, a cross from the left was delivered by Linetty but Trałka's shot was, one more time, slightly inaccurate. In the 84th minute Wołąkiewicz tried to shoot from a free kick. Yet again, the result was the same as in the whole match. Two minutes later the same thing again after a shot from 16 meters by Murawski. In the 88th minute Lech's dreams about a favorable outcome could have been definitely destroy by Luksa. The Lithuanian entered the pitch in the second half. Luksa instead of running alone towards the goal defended by Buric tried to pass, though none of his team mates was around. In the 90th minute Murawski tried to shoot from outside the box. This time Lech's captain hit accurately, but Pawełek was alert between the posts. One cannot say that the team from Poznań didn't fight, they did but they were extremely inefficient and therefore they lost 0 to1.
