Lech Poznan lost the home clash with Lechia Gdansk 0:1 following a goal from Paixao.
For the first 10 minutes, the two teams struggled to take control of the ball in the midfield. Finally, when Lech came in its possession, Gytkjaer fired a shot off-target at Lechia’s goal. The team from Gdansk replied with a similarly imprecise attempt from Lukas. For a short while, the two sides couldn’t dominate the match.
Finally, in the 26th minute, Lechia changed the course of the match with an impressive goal scored by Paixao. Amaral came close to equalizing very shortly afterward, but his shot flew on the wrong side of the post. The hosts had a couple of opportunities to get an equalizer, especially following counterattacks, but Lechia’s keeper was careful, and successful, with his interventions.
Lech dominated the closing minutes of the first half, but they failed to create good goal-scoring opportunities. Just before halftime, Jozwiak surprised Lechia’s keeper with a shot, but Alomerovic caught the ball confidently.
The team from seaside had a decent chance to change the score to two-nil at the beginning of the second half, but Arak’s header was off target. Similarly, Gytkjaer's attempt on the other end of the pitch was also imprecise. Lechia’s defenders successfully stopped the Dane from scoring, and even though his teammates had opportunities to place the ball in the back of the net, all of their shots were inaccurate.
For the next period of time, neither of the teams played well enough to create scoring chances, much less score. Buric was forced to intervene twice, towards the end of the match, after Haraslin and Paixao both fired good shots at Lech’s goal. Since neither of the sides managed to find a way to beat the rival’s defensive line, the match ended with a one-nil win for Lechia who secured a seat at the top of the league.
