In the 1/8 of the finals of the Polish Cup Lech Poznan won at home with Jagiellonia Bialystok 4:2 after an extra time. In the next round Lech will face Znicz Pruszkow a team thats competing in the second league.
The game began excellently for the hosts. The scheme thats been practiced on the pre-match training session was effectively put to life. Not a minute had passed when Pawlowskis flat long ball created a great chance for Sadajew. The recent signing did not hesitate as he sent the ball flying into the net. It was the fastest scored goal in Lechs history. It took the team from Poznan another 4 minutes to make it 2:0. Linetty was the one to end a great team action with a shot from a close distance. It seemed that the guests can forget about the next round of the Polish Cup. However, in the 16th minute Douglas made a mistake his pass was inaccurate, Gajos took over the ball and he passed Wolakiewicz to place it in the net. 10 minutes later it was 2:2. Tuszynski sent a center from the left flank and even though there was none of his teammates that could have gone for the third goal, Douglas intervention was unfortunate enough that he hit Arajuuri and redirected the ball into his own net. The first half ended with a draw.
Lech came for the second half with an offensive attitude, but despite a clear domination, the team did not cause much trouble to its opponents. Lovrencsics tried surprising the goalkeeper with a shot from outside the penalty area. Jagiellonias defender Frankowski made a mistake which created a great chance for Sadajew, but the latter failed to make it 3:2. In the 75th minute Gostomski had to intervene when Tuszynki sent the ball heading under the crossbar. Neither of the sides changed the result and the referee whistled for an extra time.
The first half of the extra time belonged to the guests. In the 98th minute Piatkowski had a great opportunity, but Arajuuris intervention saved Lech from conceding a goal. The second half of the extra time was decisive. In the 112th minute Douglas paid back for his mistakes by scoring a beautiful goal from a free kick. It was Linetty who made it 4:2 and sealed Lechs qualification for the next round.
