Lech Poznan pulled a goalless draw against Arka Gdynia in the 10th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa. It is the third time this season that the team from Poznan collect a single point without scoring a goal.
Lech seemed to be in control of the play since the first whistle, but the team from Poznan struggled to pass Arka’s defence line. In the 6th minute Lech fired the first shot, but Robak’s attempt wasn’t on target and the ball flew above the crossbar. Pawlowski was the second one to try and surprise Jalocha, but his shot flew far from the post.
Arka was enclosed in its own box in the first half of the game. However, since Lech lacked precision in its offensive actions, the domination did not result in goals. For instance, in the 23rd minute Gajos received a pass from Putnocky, gave the ball to Pawlowski and the latter raced towards the centre of the pitch and fired a shot. Unfortunately for Lech, the ball hit the crossbar.
The team from Poznan, despite all the effort, failed to find a target in the first half. Shortly before the halftime it was Arka that built a great goal-scoring opportunity. In the 44th minute Warcholak sent a cross to Abbott from the left flank, but the latter did not hit the ball well and Putnocky intervened without problems.
Lech continued its offensive actions in the second half. In the 53rd minute Robak played the ball to Kedziora who ran into the penalty area on full speed. The defender fired a flat, strong shot, but it turned to be easy for the goalkeeper to save. A few minutes later Lech got an opportunity to counterattack, but Jevtic final pass to Robak and inaccurate.
Meanwhile, Arka attacked with more and more intensity. The guests were awarded a few set pieces that created chaos in Lech’s penalty area. However, the team from Poznan remained in control of the play and created a decent goal-scoring opportunity every once in a while. In the 67th minute Jevtic found enough space to shoot, but just before the midfielder was about to fire a shot, he slipped and thus the attempt wasn’t on target.
As the minutes passed, the players from Poznan were more and more determined to score the winner. But since Arka’s defence line was very solid and well organized, Lech found the task very hard. Neither did long balls, nor crosses give the desired result, thus when the referee whistled for the last time, the team had to share the points.
