Lech Poznań – Zagłębie Lubin 2:1
In the last league game of the 2021/2022 season, Lech Poznań defeated Zagłębie Lubin 2:1 and was officially crowned Polish champions.
Skorża and his team won PKO BP Ekstraklasa in the pre-last round of the season, but before they could officially lift the trophy and receive the medals, they needed to play the last match, against Zagłębie. Just as expected, the hosts defeated their opponent from Lubin and sealed the championship title with a 2:1 win.
In the first half, Lech found the back of the net twice and both goals were scored by… defenders. In the 10th minute, Tomasz Kędziora beat Jasmin Burić, and shortly before halftime, Alan Czerwiński – who returned to the squad after a long break – scored the second goal. Zagłębie responded with a goal of their own – in the 64th minute, Kacper Chodyna converted a penalty kick into their only goal of the night.
Following the final whistle, the celebrations have begun. First, an official medal ceremony took place at Bułgarska street, and then the players took a double-decker, open bus to the International Poznań Fair where they joined their supporters for further celebrations. It was a long and joyful night!
