Three wins and three clean sheets in a row. On Sunday afternoon, Lech Poznań beat Widzew Łódź 2:0 and extended the series of good performances in PKO BP Ekstraklasa.
The clash with Widzew attracted a crowd of 23 thousand, but the fans gathered at Bułgarska Street didn’t get to witness an exhilarating first half. The hosts were in control for most of the time but failed to convert the possession of the ball into goal-scoring opportunities.
The second half of the match was different – Lech was much more active in the offense and started causing problems to Widzew’s defensive line, however, they still lacked the precision required to score. Finally, in the 80th minute, Joao Amaral beat Ravas with a flat, technical shot from outside the box and the crowd exploded.
Less than 2 minutes later, the fans gathered at Poznań Stadium celebrated again when Mikael Ishak converted a great pass from Gio Tsitaishvili into the second and final goal of the night. This way, Lech secured their third league win in a row.
Now John van den Brom and his players have a very difficult task ahead of them – next Thursday, they will play in the Europa Conference League group stage against the Spanish Villarreal. The kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 pm.
